NairaUSD Corrections Policy

How NairaUSD identifies, reviews, corrects, and documents errors, provider source revisions, and data pipeline anomalies across the platform.

CORRECTIONS CONTROLS
Prompt review of reported errors
Official source revisions integrated
Material corrections disclosed
Automated fallback controls
Policy Last Reviewed: August 2026

1. Our Commitment to Accuracy

NairaUSD aims to provide accurate, current, and clearly interpreted financial, economic, and business information. Despite robust database guardrails and automated verification scripts, errors can occasionally occur in underlying source feeds, mathematical processing, interpretation, or editorial content. When a material error is confirmed, our policy is to correct it promptly, systematically, and transparently.

2. Taxonomy of Corrections

To ensure operational clarity, NairaUSD classifies platform anomalies into six distinct categories:

Factual Error An incorrect statement, date, official title, institution name, or qualitative claim.
Data Error An inaccurate value resulting from source retrieval, parsing, API endpoint, or storage failures.
Calculation Error An incorrect derived metric caused by formula logic, currency conversion, or unit errors.
Interpretation Error A signal, classification label, or summary that does not logically follow from the underlying dataset.
Display Error Correct database values rendered incorrectly due to template CSS or frontend formatting bugs.
Source Revision A retrospective update officially issued by a primary provider (NBS, CBN, FRED, World Bank).

3. Source Revisions vs. NairaUSD Errors

Official macroeconomic authorities (such as the NBS for Inflation/GDP or the CBN for Monetary Reserves) frequently publish retrospective revisions to historical datasets.

Policy Standard: When NairaUSD updates a historical figure because the primary state agency officially revised it, this is logged as a Source Revision rather than an original NairaUSD platform error. Updated official readings overwrite prior records across our charts and databases to preserve factual truth.

4. Automated Data Corrections & Safeguards

Because NairaUSD utilizes dynamic database pipelines to power elements like the Market Pulse and indicator hubs, automated ingestion scripts enforce validation checks:

  • Malformed / Impossible Deltas: Rates exhibiting extreme single-frame anomalies (e.g., a 500% intraday jump) trigger automatic API fallback protocols.
  • Stale or Missing Feed Data: If an automated source fails to return a validated observation, NairaUSD displays an em dash () or explicit unavailable state.

NairaUSD strictly prohibits silently displaying unvalidated or speculative data as live.

5. How Corrections Are Reviewed

Upon receiving an error report or detecting a data discrepancy, our technical desk executes a 6-step review:

Step 1 — Verification: Verify the reported issue against primary statutory publications or API logs.
Step 2 — Origin Determination: Establish whether the discrepancy stems from a source revision, API ingestion bug, or editorial typo.
Step 3 — System Correction: Correct the entry at the core database level so dependent templates receive clean data.
Step 4 — Cascade Review: Check all dependent pages, calculator scripts, and comparison tools fed by the corrected record.
Step 5 — Disclosure Evaluation: Determine whether the issue represents a minor silent fix or a material correction requiring a note.
Step 6 — Documentation: Append an explicit correction disclosure if the error was materially significant.

6. Material vs. Minor Corrections

NairaUSD distinguishes between minor technical maintenance and material content changes:

Minor Corrections (Silent Fix)

Spelling, grammar, CSS styling, broken internal links, or typographical formatting changes that do not alter numerical facts, data meaning, or economic interpretation.

Material Corrections (Disclosed)

Incorrect economic figures, flawed calculator formulas, wrong reporting periods, or misleading signal labels that could materially alter a user's commercial judgment.

7. Correction Disclosure Format

When a material correction is made to an editorial intelligence article or deep-dive analysis page, a standardized note is appended:

Correction Notice Example: "Correction: An earlier version of this indicator analysis displayed an incorrect CPI figure for June 2026. The figure has been corrected to 33.4% based on official NBS revised data. Updated August 18, 2026."

8. Historical Records & Derived Outputs

Historical Integrity Rule: Stored historical series on NairaUSD are derived strictly from official observed readings. Historical bars and data tables are never manually altered, visually estimated, or replaced with placeholders unless explicitly marked as illustrative examples.

Derived Recalculation: Because tools (like Purchasing Power calculators or Spread Estimators) query core indicator tables dynamically, any source correction or revision automatically updates downstream calculator outputs across the platform.

Governance Boundary

9. AI Content Guardrails & Independent Data

Automated AI summaries and generated commentaries remain strictly subject to NairaUSD’s correction standards. If automated commentary misstates underlying data, it is revised or removed immediately.

No Silent Manipulation: NairaUSD never alters historical or current market figures to suit a commercial outcome, partner preference, or editorial narrative. Source data always takes precedence over commentary.
Public Accountability

Report a Data or Editorial Issue

If you detect an error in a statistic, calculator formula, rate table, or article, please inform our desk. Please include the page URL, the specific figure/text believed to be in error, and a primary source link if available.

Reports involving live macroeconomic or currency data receive priority review due to their downstream impact across calculators.
